Colombia Excelso EP (GP): “Excelso” is a grading term for exportable coffee from Colombia, not related to variety or cupping profile. EP (European Preparation) specifies that the raw beans are all hand sorted to remove any defective beans and foreign material. Excelso coffee beans are large, but slightly smaller than Supremo coffee beans.
Tet Kone: Full natural coffee from the Southern Shan State region of Myanmar (Ywangan) at 1,200 meters above sea level. This complex coffee has notes of fruit like dried berries and blood orange with an oaky-wood note, and a lingering semi-sweet chocolate finish. 200 years ago, the governor of Nyaung Shwe, Nyaung Shwe Zaw Bwar, set up an army and based it in Tet Kone. Initially, there were only 13 households in the village and residents grew trees as windbreaks. As legend has it, it is under the shade of those trees that coffee plants were first grown in Ywangan. When surrounding villages realized that income could be made from coffee, the coffee spread to the whole region.
